Privacy Policy

LeRent is a private billing site run by your landlord for tenants of their rental property. This policy explains what information the site keeps and how it is used.

Information we keep

• Your details: your name, email address, cell phone number and unit.
• Your tenancy: move-in and move-out dates, rent and deposit amounts.
• Your bills: invoices, charges and credits, and the payments recorded for you, including the method and any reference.
• Your utility use: daily electricity and gas readings from the meters assigned to your unit, and what they cost.
• Your messages: a record of the emails and texts sent to you and whether they were accepted for delivery.
• Your sign-in: a scrambled form of your password, never the password itself, plus your last sign-in time. Actions in the site are logged with an IP address for security.

The site does not collect card or bank details. If you pay through Venmo or Cash App, you do so on their service and under their terms. your landlord then records the payment here by hand.

How we use it

We use this information to work out and send your bills, show your usage and payments, contact you about your account, and keep the site secure. We do not use it for advertising.

Cookies

The site uses one cookie to keep you signed in. It does not use advertising cookies or analytics trackers.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only as needed to run the site:

• Our web host, GreenGeeks, stores the site and its data.
• Our text message provider, Vonage, and mobile carriers receive your cell number and the message text in order to deliver your texts.
• Our email provider receives your email address and the message in order to deliver your emails.
• Others, when the law requires it or when needed to protect legal rights.

Meter readings come to us from Emporia and from devices at the property. We do not send your personal details to Emporia.

Text messages

Your mobile information, including your phone number and your consent to receive texts, will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. It is shared only with the providers above so that your texts can be delivered.

How long we keep it

We keep your information during your tenancy and afterward for as long as needed for billing, tax and legal records. The site does not delete these records automatically.

Your choices

You can update your cell number and your email and text preferences on your account page. To see, correct or ask us to delete your information, contact us below. We may need to keep some records for legal or tax reasons.

Security

We use encrypted connections, scrambled passwords and limited access to protect your information, but no website can promise complete security.

Children

This site is for tenants who are adults. It is not meant for children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date above.
